EU and Ukraine continue discussions for Ukraine’s future association to Erasmus+

The European Commission and Ukraine are continuing the preparations towards Ukraine's future association to Erasmus+.

Executive Vice-President for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness, Roxana Mînzatu, met with the Ukrainian Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi, in a High-Level Dialogue on 11/05/2026. They discussed strengthening cooperation and support for Ukraine in the fields of education and skills, and, in particular, Ukraine’s participation in the Erasmus+ programme.

Mînzatu said: "Erasmus+ is already a strong bridge between Ukraine and the European Union... We welcome Ukraine's progress towards establishing a national Erasmus agency, and we are ready to support Ukraine's preparation for future association to Erasmus+." Since 2022, the EU has committed over €1.1 billion to support education in Ukraine, including €210 million through Erasmus+ for mobility, cooperation projects and schoolbooks for Ukrainian children.
