European university alliance ERUA establishes legal entity to become a permanent institution

The European Reform University Alliance (ERUA) has formally signed the statutes of the new international non-profit association, establishing ERUA as a legal entity.

This move marks a decisive step in its evolution "from project-based collaboration to a permanent institutional alliance of European universities", the alliance noted.

The agreement was endorsed by the rectors of the eight members of the alliance:
• University of Paris 8, France;
• University of the Aegean, Greece;
• New Bulgarian University, Bulgaria;
• SWPS University, Poland;
• Mykolas Romeris University, Lithuania;
• University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain;
• University of Macerata, Italy;
• European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), Germany.

As a result of this step, the alliance, which had been until then operating as a project-based network (funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ programme), now "exists as a permanent institution in its own right, with its own legal standing, governance structure and capacity to act".
