Thierry Dauxois appointed President of CNRS

Philippe Baptiste, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Space of France, has appointed Thierry Dauxois as President of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) on 10/06/2026.

Dauxois succeeds immediately Antoine Petit, who has chaired the organisation since January 2018.

"Since 2023, the French research landscape has been steered more closely by the creation of programme agencies tasked with bringing together research strengths to meet the country's major public policy challenges (AI, health, space, etc.).), it will be Thierry Dauxois's job to consolidate the CNRS's special position in this ecosystem in the years to come", the Ministry for of Higher Education, Research and Space wrote in a statement.
