European university alliance Aurora report says it generated €7.7 billion in economic impact

The European university alliance Aurora says that its activities in 2024 generated €7.7 billion in economic impact.

The alliance said on LinkedIn, on 22/06/2026, it's "a figure that goes far beyond education alone and stresses the role universities play in Europe’s economic performance".

The Economic Impact Report commissioned by Aurora found said that, for every €1 of income received, Aurora members contribute a further €5.5 for the European economy.

The report estimates that the 59,880 graduates of 2024 will generate €7.3bn in additional income and productivity gains over the course of their working lives as a result of their qualifications. It also estimates the income and productivity gains resulting from short training courses for the workforce at €134 million. Finally, it estimates the direct contribution of student work placements to the output of host companies, made by the 15,380 interns, at €236m.
