Talent and infrastructure should be developed together, Chairman of Irish Universities Association says

The Chairman of the Irish Universities Association (IUA), John O'Halloran, has recommended developing both talent and infrastructure together to reach the best return on investment: "Infrastructure and talent are inseparable. That is why discussions about research infrastructure must also be about research careers, technical expertise and doctoral education."

O'Halloran, who is also President of University College Cork, said research had become "one of Ireland's great national strengths", contributing to its democracy, economy, public services, as well as to its ability to respond to complex societal challenges.
