University heads of administrations' role in internationalisation has increased

Higher education leaders have said that the role of heads of administration (HoAs) in the internationalisation of universities has become "much stronger" in recent years.

They were speaking at the annual meeting of the French Association of HoAs (ADGS), taking place in Strasbourg (France) from 02 to 03/07/2026. The association studies the administration and management of higher education and research in France and abroad, and their developments.

The speakers discussed how HoAs played a role in the internationalisation process, as it requires "preparation to internationalisation": language training for professors and staff, administrative procedures, security regulations, compliance with rules and political directions that often contradict each other, etc.
