MEP drafting Parliament position on EU Inc calls for greater social protections

The MEP in charge of drafting the European Parliament’s position on the 28^th company law regime, known as EU Inc., is calling for greater social protections in the legislation.

René Repasi, a German centre-right MEP, published a draft of his report on 01/07/2026, saying that he aimed to “reset the balance” of the proposal by the European Commission by adding “strong social safeguards”.

“Only this way, we can make EU Inc. a genuine European seal of quality for startups, scaleups, investors and skilled workers,” he wrote on LinkedIn. Adding that “preventive legality checks” would build trust in the regime.

“If Europe wants to become the best place to start, scale and retain innovative companies, we need a corporate framework that is both competitive and trusted. That is the ambition of these changes,” he wrote.

The aim of the proposal, which was published on 18/03/2026, is to create a single legal framework for setting up companies that can operate in more than one EU member state and that avoids having to comply with different legal regimes of each country.
