EUA calls for an European Innovation Act fostering a shared innovation culture

The European University Association (EUA) has called for the future European Innovation Act to foster a culture of shared innovation.

In a list of of recommendations on 06/07/2026 on the Act, which is expected on 09/09/2026, EUA said that it was "an opportunity to acknowledge universities' needs and challenges, not just those of industry or small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)".

For the EUA, the act should establish flexible and stimulating career frameworks that recognise the diverse contributions made by innovators to society; it should not be limited to ‘deep tech’ start-ups, but should include social innovation, student entrepreneurship, as well as process and organisational innovation, and make administrative and regulatory frameworks more responsive.
