Sylvie Lorente re-appointed as member of the ERC Scientific Council

The European Commission has re-appointed Sylvie Lorente as a member of the European Research Council (ERC) Scientific Council.

The ERC announced on 30/06/2026 that Lorente's mandate has been renewed for another two years following four years as a member of the Council.

Lorente is a French mechanical engineer recognised for her research in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics of porous media, particularly for advancing the constructal theory of flows and their dynamic evolution. She is Associate Dean for Research & Innovation in the College of Engineering at Villanova University in Pennsylvania, United States, while also serving as Professor at the French National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA), where she earned her PhD in Civil Engineering in 1996.
