International research experts call for the full integration of Ukraine into the European Research Area

Representatives from 14 countries, as well as the European Commission and stakeholders, have signed the Gdansk declaration on science, research and innovation in Ukraine, calling for the full integration of the country into the European Research Area (ERA).

The European Commission announced on 02/07/2026 the signing of this declaration on 26/06 at the First High-Level Steering Committee of the Coalition for Science, Research and Innovation in Ukraine. The Commission said the declaration outlined a shared ambition to support Ukraine in increasing the research and development investment to 3% of the GDP following the end of Russia’s full-scale war of aggression, in line with the ERA target.
