EUPHE network wants better recognition of private education sector in Europe and more opportunities

The European Union of Private Higher Education (EUPHE), a European network of non-state higher education institutions, is aiming to advocate for a better recognition of the private sector at EU level and gather more members in the coming years.

Karl Wöber, founding president of Modul University Vienna, one of the 19 private universities in Austria, joined EUPHE seven years ago, when the network was first founded.

"We thought there were quite a lot of differences, but also similarities between our universities, so we founded this network to create more awareness for the sector in Europe," he recalled.

Wöber is now the incoming president of the organisation and will begin his four-year term in January 2027.
