European science and business associations call for substantially increased budget for Horizon 2028-2034

Nearly 90 European research and business associations have called for a bold European research framework programme for 2028-2034 (FP10), with a "substantially increased budget".

On 07/07/2026, the European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (EARTO) and 85 other associations wrote to the EU institutions stating that "cutting or stagnating FP10’s budget would be a false economy: it would undermine precisely the public-private partnerships, the technology maturation pipelines and the talent networks that are indispensable to restoring European productivity growth."

In June, Cyprus, which held the presidency of the Council of the EU, presented revised figures for the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), i.e the budget of the EU for 2028-2034, that included overall budget…
