ETH Zurich establishes new research and teaching centre in Germany

ETH Zurich has opened a new research and teaching centre in Germany focusing on AI and cybersecurity, the Heilbronn Campus in south-west Germany.

On 02/07/2026, ETH President Joël Mesot and Reinhold R. Geilsdörfer, Chairman of the Dieter Schwarz Foundation, officially inaugurated the ETH Zurich Heilbronn Campus after approximately two years of development. The Dieter Schwarz Foundation, a non-profit company, partnered with ETH Zurich to establish the campus.

ETH said that Heilbronn Campus aimed to advance the digital transformation of business and society while creating a European centre of competence that closely integrates research, innovation and knowledge transfer.
