Majority of EU citizens think vocational education and training leads to good jobs and pay, survey finds

A Eurobarometer survey has revealed that a large majority of EU citizens view vocational education and training (VET) as a fast track to attractive and well-remunerated job opportunities.

According to the survey, published on 10/07/2026, 85% of respondents believe that VET provides technical skills relevant for jobs, while 82% believe they lead actual job opportunities (for 82%). Of those, 66% believe those jobs are likely to be well-paid.

The European Commission described VET as a mix of "practical and theoretical learning to equip learners with hands-on skills and qualifications needed on the labour market".

The survey shows that 73% of Europeans see VET as offering high-quality learning, delivered by competent teachers (79%) and supported by modern infrastructure (78%). Opportunities…
