Ascent, one of 16 projects funded under the Choose Europe for Science call for proposals under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) programme, will be officially launched on 01/01/2027. It is one of the three French projects in the call.

"It offers six five-year postdoctoral positions: three years funded by the EU and two years by the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL, a French research institute in Grenoble), with a budget of around €1.4 million," Mark Johnson, head of the partnerships and communications department at the ILL, told News Tank on 29/06/2026.

He added: "The aim is to offer stability to early-career researchers, who often find themselves on a succession of short-term contracts under precarious conditions. We want to offer a real springboard to a stable scientific career.”
