Polish and Spanish state research agencies sign Memorandum of Understanding to promote new research calls

The Spanish State Research Agency (AEI) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Polish National Science Centre (NCN) to strengthen scientific collaboration between Spain and Poland through joint research calls.

The memorandum was signed by the Director General of the AEI, José Manuel Fernández de Labastida, and the Director of the NCN, Krzysztof Jóźwiak, the agencies announced on 22/07/2026.

"The initiative arises to establish a legal framework to strengthen collaboration between the Spanish and Polish scientific communities," the AEI said.

As a result of this memorandum, the organisations are preparing two new competitions for funding bilateral projects in 2026:

• OPUS 32+LAP/Weave, in which the leading agency will be NCN;
• FLAMENCO, in which AEI will serve as the leading agency…
