European Commission launches call for tenders for seven AI Gigafactories

The European Commission has launched a call for tenders for the establishment of up to seven AI Gigafactories across Europe.

The initiative will be backed by up to €10 billion in EU and national funding, the European Commission announced on 30/07/2026. Led by industry, it is expected to mobilise at least €20bn in private investment across the Union.

The Commission said the initiative aimed to expand Europe's AI computing capacity and provide start-ups, scale-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises, industry, academia and public authorities with access to infrastructure for training, inference and fine-tuning advanced frontier AI models.
