Commission clears final legal hurdle for Scaleup Europe Fund, with first investments due in coming weeks

The European Commission has completed the final legal steps to establish the Scaleup Europe Fund, paving the way for the first investments in the coming weeks.

Ekaterina Zaharieva, Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation, announced on 04/08/2026 that the fund, aiming to boost Europe's scaleup companies to grow faster, was "now fully operational and set to make its first investments in the coming weeks".

The European Commission had announced the launch of the Scaleup Europe Fund during the European Innovation Council (EIC) Summit in Brussels on 03//06/202. Private equity firm EQT, a Swedish global investment organisation, was announced as the investment manager and is now empowered to take investment decisions independently and on market terms.
