Manifesto promotes open education and educational commons as enablers of universal access to knowledge

A collective has published a manifesto defining open education and educational commons as essential pillars for ensuring universal and barrier-free access to knowledge.

On 25/08/2026, French-speaking authors published the Manifesto on Open Education and Educational Commons, viewing them as a means of "reducing inequalities by providing fair and inclusive learning opportunities for everyone".

In particular, the authors argue that “all technological innovations, scientific progress and the entire body of scientific knowledge must be harnessed to further open education and ensure the best possible use of freely available educational and scientific resources.” The manifesto also supports the recognition of informal learning (everything learned outside schools and universities).
