UK and Ukraine sign new AI partnership to develop "new military capabilities and future technology"

The UK and Ukraine have signed a new AI partnership, with the UK becoming the first international partner to access Ukraine’s Avengers AI Labs, allowing the two countries to accelerate the development of AI tools for military purposes.

The deal was signed on 24/08/2026 by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham in Kyiv. It "will see the UK back Ukraine with world-leading universities, researchers, technology companies and the third-largest AI ecosystem in the world", according to the UK government.

The idea is to bring together "Britain’s world-leading AI ecosystem with Ukraine’s operational experience, engineering talent and technological innovation" to develop the technology of the future.
