ESMT Berlin establishes new European Expectations Center for research on economic expectations

The European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) Berlin has established a new European Expectations Centre (EEC), led by economist Michael Weber, to examine how households, firms and financial market participants form expectations about economic developments and how these influence economic behaviour.

The EEC was announced by the German business school on 01/09/2026. It will focus its research on four key areas:
• households and how individuals form expectations about inflation, income, employment and broader economic conditions;
• how firms form expectations and how these expectations shape investment, hiring and pricing decisions;
• financial markets and the role expectations play in investment decisions, asset pricing and broader financial market behaviour;
