ERC awards 2026 Public Engagement with Research prize to eight ERC grantees

The European Research Council (ERC) has announced the names of the eight ERC grantees who won the 2026 Public Engagement with Research Awards.

The ERC awarded each laureate a €10,000 prize for effectively communicating their research to the public, it announced on 17/09/2026. The award celebrates activities such as citizen science, outreach and public consultations promoting science-society dialogue. The contest received 110 applications from 26 countries.

The prize-winners are:

• Elaine Chew, King’s College London, UK;
• Katalin Csilléry, Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL;
• Konstantina Kilteni, Karolinska Institute, Sweden, and Donders Institute, The Netherlands;
• Prabha Kotiswaran, King’s College London;
• Sarah Lebeer, University of Antwerp, Belgium;
