EU body Scientific Advice Mechanism launches Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy

The European Scientific Advice Mechanism (SAM) has outlined its strategy to systematically embed equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) principles across all aspects of its scientific advisory operations, from expert nomination and selection to evidence synthesis and public outreach, on 10/09/2026.

Emphasising the connection between diversity and advisory quality, SAM stated: "Scientific advice is only as strong as the diversity of expertise, perspectives and voices that shape it." SAM noted that EDI principles are no longer treated as peripheral considerations but are systematically integrated into evidence synthesis and deliberation.
