European Commission selects EUA to develop a European University Leadership Academy

The European Commission has selected the European University Association (EUA) to develop a European University Leadership Academy.

The EUA announced on 24/09/2026 that it was selected for € 1 million in Erasmus+ funding to set up an academy to establish a broader European framework for the development of university leadership skills and to expand the opportunities available to current and emerging university leaders across Europe. The work will start with a two-year pilot phase.

The Academy plans to develop and test a scalable European leadership development system, combining innovative training, applied research, knowledge generation and peer-to-peer exchanges. It will carry out four pilot initiatives:
