Swiss Council of States approves CHF 192.6 million to participate in Erasmus+ in 2027

The Swiss Council of States has approved, by a vote of 23 to 19, with 2 abstentions, a commitment appropriation of CHF 192.6 million (€206.5m) to participate in Erasmus+ in 2027.

The Swiss Council voted on 01/10/2026. Approval from the National Council is still required; its decision is expected in December.

The vote follows several months of parliamentary discussions. On 13/03/2026, the Federal Council submitted the Switzerland-EU package to the Swiss Parliament, including the budget allocation to finance Switzerland’s participation in Erasmus+ in 2027, which constitutes a voluntary Swiss contribution to the programme.
