EU 2027 budget: Parliament proposes +€63 million for Horizon Europe and +€93 million for Erasmus+

The European Parliament’s Committee on Budgets adopted its position on the 2027 EU budget on 05/10/2026, proposing an additional €63 million for Horizon Europe and an additional €93 million for Erasmus+ compared to the Commission's proposal.

The European Commission published its estimates for funding needs for 2027 on 10/06/2026, proposing €12.838 billion for Horizon Europe, a total of €13.806bn for research & innovation, as well as €4.511bn for Erasmus+.

The Council’s position, which was adopted on 15/07, foresaw €12.6bn for Horizon Europe, €13.494bn for research and innovation and €4.4bn for Erasmus+ next year.

Parliament will vote on its position during the plenary session from 19 to 22/10/2026, after which three weeks of negotiations with the Council will begin.
