The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is the only one of the European Union’s 43 agencies to have received a qualified opinion from the European Court of Auditors.

This is stated in the Annual Report on EU Agencies for the financial year 2025, published on 29/10/2026. This qualification is based both on the reliability of the agencies’ accounts and the legality and regularity of their payments for the financial year 2025.

At issue: an unimpairment receivable of €8.7 million from a Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) in liquidation and a "material level of error" in grant payments, according to the preliminary findings of the ex-post audits. The Court does not mention the KIC by name but states that it requested its liquidation in March 2026. News Tank Academic…
