Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, anticipates association with Erasmus+ and renewed participation in Horizon Europe for the period 2028-2034.

In his speech to the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 17/09/2026, Carney said: "Canadian membership in Erasmus+ would give your students and ours more opportunity to learn at some of the world's top universities, to broaden their horizons and to build those lasting ties that will sustain our alliance for the future. Canadian membership in the next generation of Horizon Europe would allow us to pool resources, cooperate on frontier technologies and leverage our world-class research institutes and universities."
